BPS team cop medals galore at world games

Just back from Northern Ireland, a team of bowlers, cyclists, runners and golfers with the Bermuda Police Service won 15 medals in the World Police and Fire Games.The event, held in Belfast between August 1 and 10 saw 14 local athletes travel with two team managers to participate.Celebrating their achievement, Commissioner Michael DeSilva joined with senior command officers to thank the team. Mr DeSilva: “I am proud of all 14 of the persons who represented the BPS and Bermuda on a whole at the World Police and Fire Games, you are fine ambassadors and we are truly thankful.”His comments were echoed by Superintendent James Howard, who travelled to the games with fellow team manager Sergeant Fiona Miller.“Seeing our police athletes compete on the world stage was a phenomenal experience, for our size, we had a dominant presence both in sport and socially.“We had everyone saying ‘Feel the love’ and singing the praises of our beloved Island home,” said Supt Howard.Team members joined athletes from around the world for this event.
