Rising rap star Diggy Simmons is shown at Dolphin Quest in Dockyard earlier this week. Diggy was on-Island with his father Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and rap pioneer Rev Run of RunDMC and family and friends aboard the Royal Caribbean line's Explorer of the Seas, moored in Dockyard. Christine Mihelcic from Dolphin Quest said of the visit: “It was an honour to have the Simmons family at the facility. They were a kind and loving family.”

US celebrity Dwayne Simmons III, better known as ‘Diggy’ was in Bermuda this past weekend with his family, as guests on the Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas.The son of famous rap pioneer Rev Run, formerly of Run DMC showed up at Dolphin Quest in Dockyard to swim with the dolphins.He was accompanied by his famous father, mother, siblings, other relatives and friends. A spokesperson at Dolphin Quest said: “It was an honour to have the Simmons family at the facility. There were a kind and loving family.”A household name in the US through syndicated television sitcoms on cable, ‘Diggy’ is fast becoming one of the hottest names on the up and coming rappers’ circuit.He is the US rap star to be joined by one of five category winners vying for a chance to be the Most Valuable Performer on BETs show 106 and Park, who will get to perform with him.One of the five finalists is Bermuda’s own Lil Quan, also known as Jeremiah Steede who received 66 percent of the audience vote to secure a victory.The 16-year-old Bermudian returned to New York for a third time earlier this month to secure the win in the show’s hip hop and R & B category.‘Diggy’ made his television debut on family sitcoms on MTV, like Run’s House and Daddy’s Girls, featuring his sisters. He is also the youngest member of the hip-hop collective All City Chess Club. He was also named one of Billboard’s ‘Artists to Watch 2011’.The run-off for the top spot to record with ‘Diggy’ will be held later this year.
