After all the votes were calculated, Bermuda’s own Lil Quan did not win the Wild Out Wednesday’s Competition on BET last night. In the end it was Reese Rel who won the Rap category who emerged as the 2013 Wild Out Wednesday MVP.The young artist from Philadelphia said: “My journey here was crazy, two or three buses to New York every time.“I came, I lost one, I came back and won three times in a row; so that’s great!”When all the votes were in and tallied, Lil Quan, whose real name is Jeremiah Steede placed third. One of the five finalists, the 16-year-old Bermudian returned to New York for a third time earlier this month to secure the win in the show’s hip hop and R & B category. His manager, Jonathan Talbot said he was informed of the decision by e-mail on Tuesday.Hardly disappointed he said the young artist gained a wealth of experience as a result of the BET competition.“We’re not disappointed because we accomplished a lot for a new rapper like Lil Quan who has just started to get into the game.“He learned a lot about preparations for performances, he gained a larger fan base through this and he has grown tremendously as an up and coming rapper.“From the business standpoint he definitely gained firsthand knowledge of the industry and how fierce competition is,” he said.As a result of Lil Quan’s performances on BETs 106 and Park, he has been invited to recording sessions in New York before the end of the year.“We’ll be recording at Premier Studios in Manhattan, the same studios that Tupac and Notorious BIG recorded in and we’re looking forward to that,” said Mr Talbot.“And he won $7,500 for the effort.”
