Appeal after rider is knocked from bike

Police are appealing for public assistance to track down a motorist whose vehicle struck the handlebar of a motorcycle and knocked the rider off the bike.

The incident occurred around 4.30pm on Monday, on Middle Road in Warwick, near the vicinity of All Spice Gardens.

According to the victim he was riding a motorcycle west when a black SUV attempted to overtake him. The make of the vehicle, model and registration are unknown.

A police spokesman said: “As a result of oncoming traffic approaching this black SUV, the unknown driver swerved back into the westbound lane to avoid a collision and struck the right handlebar area and continued west.

“As the rider attempted to get up off the ground, he noticed the driver of the black SUV stopped a good distance along Middle Road, and then drove off west.

“The rider stated he is confident his bike mirror scratched this SUV.

“We are appealing to the members of the public regarding anyone who may have witnessed this collision or may have seen a black SUV with scratches to the left side please contact Constable Lucretius Hamilton at the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.”
