Eight Bermudians offered cruise ship jobs
Eight Bermudians have been offered jobs with Norwegian Cruise Line.
Home Affairs Minister Michael Fahy updated the Senate on the employment scheme with the cruise line yesterday.
He said 85 people attended a recruitment fair in July this year.
Only seven of the applicants will be taking up their employment offers, as one has since accepted a scholarship to study abroad.
The seven are due to start their employment on the maiden voyage of the Norwegian Gem, which sets sail from New York on October 5.
“We are confident that this programme will continue to grow and more Bermudians will be given opportunities to secure on-board employment.”
He added that the programme was being used as a blueprint for additional job placement programmes with other global businesses.
