Going green

Greenrock is looking for environmentally friendly offices to honour as part of their third annual Green Workplace Awards. The event, organised as part of a partnership between the environment charity and The Bottom Line Magazine, honours employers and employees who work to make a difference.A Greenrock spokeswoman said: “A standout example is Hiscox, who has won the Tenant category for the last two years.“Their green team works consistently to find new ways to save money and reduce their carbon footprint, not only actively working in their own environment but also influencing neighbouring tenants in the building to adopt ‘green’ cleaning practices.”Other past winners include Rosewood Tuckers Point, who were honoured for recycling cooking oil as biodiesel fuel, Saltus Grammar School for conducting annual waste audits and the Department of Airport Operations for changing their air conditioner thermostat to save money and energy.Judith Landsberg, Greenrock President, said: “The corporate environment is naturally competitive. It’s in their DNA, so Greenrock, in partnership with the Bottom Line Magazine, decided to harness this competitiveness to save money and to help the planet.”Registration is accepted online until October 15th, and final submissions are due December 7th.For more information and to register go to: www.greenrock.org/projects/business/green-workplace-awards.
