St George Councillor George Sutherland steps down

St George Common Councillor George Sutherland has stepped down, leaving the Corporation searching for a replacement.

Corporation secretary Courtney Trott confirmed that Mr Sutherland recently resigned from the position, and that nomination day for his replacement will take place on October 29.

Mr Sutherland was first elected in December 2009 and retained the seat in last year's municipal election after only four people applied for the five Councillor positions.

According to a notice in yesterday's edition of The Royal Gazette, a municipal election will be held for the vacated post on November 19.

Voters in the municipality can register at the Parliamentary Registry Office or online at www.elections.gov.bm for the election until 5pm on October 16.

You must be Registered or to post comment or to vote.
