City bosses say they spent $30,000 on Colombia trip
The Corporation of Hamilton spent around $30,000 sending a five-person delegation to the Republic of Colombia, Mayor Graeme Outerbridge has said.
Last month four of the Corporation's nine elected officials, accompanied by an interpreter, went on a ten-day trip to Colombia to attend the World Summit of Mayors.
“A formal report from the Council members who travelled to Colombia will be tabled during a future Council meeting,” Mr Outerbridge said through a Corporation spokesperson.
“Once the report has been tabled and reviewed, we will share it with the media and public. As part of the report, there will be a final accounting of the costs for the trip which, I will reiterate, is in the region of $30,000.”
City of Hamilton bosses have already dismissed as inaccurate an earlier report by this newspaper that the trip cost “up to $100,000”.
