Police seek stolen laptops

Police are on the look out for four laptop computers stolen recently from a premises on Woodlands Road in Pembroke.The theft occurred sometime between 6.30pm on Monday and 9.30am Tuesday, October 15.As a result, police are now advising the public “to be wary of anyone attempting to sell discounted HP 530 laptop computers”.Inquiries into this reported burglary are ongoing.Anyone with any information regarding the incident or the location of the four black and grey HP 530 laptop computers is encouraged to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 247-1744.Officers attached to the Police Financial Crime Unit issued a reminder to the public in light of another online scam.A spokesman urged online shoppers to “remain vigilant”, especially if asked to send wire transfers to unknown persons overseas for payment of goods not yet received.“If the person is not selling locally or if an overseas person requests to purchase items posted on a local online classifieds website be wary, as it may not be legitimate,” he said.“Residents should not send any monies to unknown persons before receiving the goods.”
