Power supplies restored after fire at Belco

An internal fire at the Belco plant late Friday night temporarily affected power supplies within the plant and to some properties on nearby Par-La-Ville Road in Hamilton.

A switch at the plant caught fire around 11.30pm. The Bermuda Fire Service was alerted and the fire was extinguished just over an hour later. Power supplies were then restored to affected customers.

In a statement today Belco said work to repair damaged equipment has commenced and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
