An 84-year-old man was struck in the face by intruders who broke into his Southampton home.

Police said the incident happened on Leacraft Hill Road at about 6.20pm yesterday.

A spokesman said: “It appears that two males entered a dwelling and made demands of ‘specific items’. As a result of their aggressive demands, the victim, an 84-year-old man, began to scream for help.

“This resulted in one of the males striking the...man in the face before making good their escape. The victim was unharmed and nothing was taken from the house.

“The two men are described as brown complexioned males of stocky build, around 5ft 6in and approximately 25 years of age.”
