Gaming meeting postponed

Minister of Tourism Shawn Crockwell

A meeting in which Minister of Tourism Development and Transport Shawn Crockwell was to discuss Integrated Casino Resort gaming in Bermuda has been postponed because of today’s industrial action.

It was scheduled to be held at Pier 6 in Hamilton.

A Government spokesman said a new date will be announced soon.

The first of a series of meetings to discuss the same topic was held at Penno’s Wharf, St. George’s on Tuesday.

The next will be held on Thursday, February 13 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at St. James Church Hall, Sandys and another on Tuesday, February 18 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Docksider Pub and Restaurant, Front Street, Hamilton.

Two further events will be held — one to discuss mitigating social risks and another to highlight economic and job opportunities. Details have yet to be announced.

Mr Crockwell said: “I encourage anyone with any questions or concerns about gaming in Bermuda to attend one of these meetings so that they can learn more about what the Government proposes and how the introduction of Integrated Casino Resorts in Bermuda will provide opportunities and jobs for Bermudians.”
