May 31 is last day to renew boats and mooring licences

Boat and mooring owners have been warned by the Department of Marine and Ports that licences are set to expire on May 31, with renewals commencing April 1.

A spokeswoman for the department said that this year it would not be posting renewal notices as part of a cost saving method, but owners would be able to directly access their account information online.

“Payments can now be made through our website www.marineandports.bm or by visiting the Department of Marine and Ports at East Broadway, 4 Crow Lane,” the spokeswoman said. “Please note that payments cannot be made prior to Tuesday, April 1.”

In order to see what is owed, users should create a login using their Marine and Ports account number, which can be found at the top left of registration documents from last year. A list of fees is also available at the Department's website.

All mooring licences must be renewed by May 31 to avoid late fees, and moorings licences more than three months outstanding will be cancelled and the mooring will be removed. The reinstatement fee for a cancelled mooring starts at $325 per mooring.

Charter and rental boat licences meanwhile are set to expire on April 30.
