Man charged with attempted murder

A Pembroke man charged with attempting to murder his stepfather has been released on bail.

In Magistrates’ Court this morning, it was alleged that Garth Bell, 39, of Crossland Lane, tried to kill his stepfather Herbie Spencer.

As the charge is indictable there was no plea.

The alleged offence took place on August 11.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released the defendant on $15,000 bail. The defendant is to report to Hamilton Police Station every Tuesday and Thursday, he must make alternative living arrangements, can’t have any contact with the victim and must surrender all travel documents.

He will return to court for trial on August 28.
