A 79-year-old woman is in hospital after being knocked down by a motorcycle.

The senior, from Devonshire, was struck on South Road near the junction with Devonshire Bay Road at about 8.50am on Wednesday morning.

The pedestrian was trying to cross the road at the time.

She was kept in hospital overnight and police said this morning she was in a stable condition.

Police are investigating and witnesses are asked to call PC Matthew Kemmenoe at the Hamilton Police Station on telephone number 247-1704.
