A Pembroke man accused of pulling down a woman’s bikini bottoms at the annual Beachfest celebration appeared in Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The 21-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with intruding on the privacy of a female at the event, on July 31 at Horseshoe Bay in Southampton.

The alleged victim, 32, has also claimed he threw a beer bottle at her. She was a volunteer at Beachfest and was collecting trash at the time the offence was said to take place.

The accused was in court to be served papers and Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner extended his $2,000 bail.

The defendant will appear in court again on January 14.
