TV show highlights Island’s x-factor

Talking point: Tulisa Contostavlos

An episode of the hit British talent show X Factor filmed in Bermuda has helped place a spotlight on the Island.

In the episode, judge Louis Walsh narrowed six groups of performers to three — the first set of finalists named in the competition — after watching performances from a terrace overlooking south shore.

Following Friday’s broadcast on ITV, the show was the subject of a series of articles in newspapers and magazines including The Mirror, Metro, the Belfast Telegraph, the Daily Mail, Hello Magazine and OK! Magazine. The segments filmed in Bermuda were highlighted in each, in large part due to the return of former judge and N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos to the show, emerging from the ocean in a white bikini.

InStyle UK’s website meanwhile featured an article on how readers could holiday in Bermuda like the one seen on the show.

The article by Jessica Bridgeman states: “Holiday envy doesn’t come much worse than a chilly autumn evening in front of X Factor’s Judges’ Houses. This year, it’s Louis Walsh who’s fuelled our travel bug.

“Surprising his hopeful groups with a trip to Bermuda, the long-standing judge jetted contestants out for a spot of added pressure in the glorious sunshine. Joined on the exotic island by former judge, Tulisa Contostavlos, the duo gave us a taste for all things luxurious.”

The article highlighted the Fairmont Southampton, where the judges stayed and where the bulk of the episode was filmed, along with landmarks such as the Crystal Caves and Swizzle Inn.

Radio Times also published an article online focused on the Island’s attractions and the hotel.
