Bus services running and trash being collected in east end

A number of bus services are running again following Tropical Storm Fay and trash was being picked up in the East End today.

Routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are now operating.

However, route 1 will operate to Devil’s Hole, then cross over to route 3 and go on to St George’s. Route 1 will not service Tucker’s Town until further notice, pending completion of road clearing.

Ferries are running according to schedule but Marine and Ports will suspend the Dockyard to St George’s Orange route on Wednesday evening until further notice.

Meanwhile, trash collectors are picking up household waste from main roads and any side roads that are passable in the eastern parishes today.

“Collection staff were only able to collect on the main roads in the west yesterday and a few side roads,” an advisory stated. “As side roads become clear of debris, regular service will resume. Residents are asked to take their waste bags to main roads for collection today only in the east.

“The Ministry of Public Works appreciates the public’s patience and understanding and looks forward to resuming regular waste collection service as soon as possible.”
