All remaining shows of Pirates of Penzance have been cancelled because of Hurricane Gonzalo.

Alexander Damon Rosati, secretary of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Bermuda, said the safety of the audience, cast and crew had to take priority.

“We thank you for all of your support and, on behalf of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Bermuda, would urge you all, if possible, to consider your ticket purchase as a donation to the Society to help offset the cost of this year’s show.

“A DVD of the performance will be made available for general circulation to all those who do so, along with other merchandise.”

The Society said it would reconsider staging some shows if Bermuda was spared significant damage.

CADA’s Let Us Drive service has also been cancelled for tomorrow night due to the storm.

The free cab home from Hamilton usually departs from Reid Street from 3.15-3.45am.

Freisenbruch-Meyer Group has said it intends to be open from 9am on Saturday morning or as soon as safely possible to assist residents with insurance claims.

We are unable to speak to the number of claims at this time but our claims adjusters will be visiting sites throughout the Island,” a spokeswoman said. “We will be working diligently over the next few days to ensure our clients are adequately indemnified for their losses.”

For assistance or to make a claim call 296-3600 or email claims@fmgroup.bm

BF&M will be closed on Friday but will open as soon as possible after the storm, the company said this afternoon.

Staff will be stationed at the St George’s Club from Saturday afternoon, if safe, to help customers in the East End who cannot cross the causeway.

BF&M customers can call the 24/7 property claims hotline on 298-0247, the regular number on 295-5566, or email gencoclaims@bfm.bm

MarketPlace stores will remain open until 9pm tonight and reopen as soon as possible on Saturday.

The following RUBiS Stations will close at 6:30pm this evening: RUBiS St. John’s Roads Service station and the RUBiS East Broadway East Broadway Service station.
