Free international calls reward for customers

Phone firm Digicel last night said it had completed the post-hurricane restoration of its network — and offered postpaid customers 30 minutes’ free international calls a day until the end of the month.

Digicel Bermuda CEO Alistair Beak said: “As a small token of our gratitude for the patience shown by our customers over the last couple of weeks, we decided to offer free international minutes on calls made to common destinations including the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and Portugal.

“This offer will allow customers to ring their friends and family abroad at no cost.”

Mr Beak added all Digicel customers, including prepaid clients, would also get a text message that will entitle them to a free coffee at a Buzz outlet as another token of thanks from the firm.

Digicel postpaid customers who want to take up the free minutes offer should to text ‘INTL’ to 2122 for instructions.

The free international minute offer is open to all Digicel postpaid customers who can expect to receive a free opt in text message with activation instructions as well as a confirmation SMS once the minutes are ready for use.

Mr Beak added: “Bermuda has made an amazing recovery post Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gonzalo and Digicel has put everything into restoring our network thanks to the network upgrades executed by our Bermudian field engineers Steven, Matthew and Blaine.

“Our technical team especially has selflessly worked non-stop during the recovery process for which we are truly grateful.

Mr Beak said: “Digicel is committed to Bermuda in providing the best network and these two gestures are provided to both thank our customers and celebrate the work of our technical team and overall to simply to say thank you.”
