Man denies stun gun, assaulting police

A 24-year-old man accused of carrying a prohibited stun gun and assaulting two police officers has denied all charges in Magistrates’ Court.

Ryan Richardson, of Duck’s Puddle Drive in Hamilton Parish, was further charged with driving while impaired and refusing to provide a sample of breath when asked by a police officer, on January 3 at Crow Lane, Pembroke.

He pleaded not guilty, and denied a charge of speeding at 85kph on the same date.

Mr Richardson also denied two counts of violently resisting arrest. The court heard that all charges stemmed from the same incident.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo offered bail of $1,500 for the traffic charges, and of $5,000 with a like surety for the other matters.

Mr Richardson, who is represented by defence lawyer Charles Richardson, will return to court for trial on both matters on April 21.
