Pembroke man discharged after wreckage

An accident victim, who was trapped in his car and rescued by the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service using the “jaws of life”, has been discharged from the hospital, a Bermuda Police Service spokesman reported this morning.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at 3.07am on Saturday in Devonshire at the junction with Palmetto Road and North Shore Road.

Fire Service and Rescue spokeswoman Sergeant Russann Francis said at the time: “The Fire Service responded to a road traffic accident where a car was reported to have lost control.

“The Fire Service responded to the incident with one vehicle and four personnel. On our arrival, the driver was found to be trapped in the vehicle. Therefore, we were required to use the ‘jaws of life’ to remove them to safety.”

A 24-year-old Pembroke man was taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance.
