New website for Audubon Society

White-eyed vireo

The Bermuda Audubon Society has relaunched its website to include a bird-tracking feature that will contribute to information on global bird migration.

Visitors to the new site can now see which birds have been spotted on the Island by following BirdTrax on the home page of www.audubon.bm.

This application allows all the entries to be fed in to eBird, which birders around the world contribute to helping to piece together in-depth data.

The revamped website now has more photography as well as more in-depth information about Bermuda’s local breeding birds and conservation programmes for cahows, longtails and bluebirds.

It also includes a section on what visiting birds, Bermuda residents can expect to see throughout the year, the best places to go birdwatching and the complete checklist of birds recorded on the Island.

There is an education section that includes information sheets on Bermuda birds and links to educational websites.

“We are delighted to have launched this fresh new website, which we hope will prove a great resource for both locals and visitors with an interest in birds and Bermuda’s environment,” said Andrew Dobson, the president of the Bermuda Audubon Society.

“We are grateful to Total Marketing & Communications for the excellent job they did in developing the site.”
