At approximately 10.03am this morning, the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service responded to a report of a road traffic accident near the junction of Tee Street and South Road in Devonshire.

Fire Service spokeswoman Sergeant Russann Francis said: “We received a call at our 911 dispatch centre stating there was a collision involving a female cycle rider and a car.”

The Bermuda Police Service confirmed that the woman was travelling west on South Road and the car was exiting Kent Avenue when they collided.

On arrival, the BFRS duty crew found the rider under the car and trapped between the handlebars of the cycle.

The female rider was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she is being treated for a serious leg injury and other unspecified injuries.

South Road from Point Finger Road and Brighton Hill Road have been closed while the scene is being processed by traffic collision investigators and the Forensic Support Unit. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision and are asked to contact them on 295-0011.
