Injured visitor requires overseas treatment

A visitor injured in a crash remains in “serious but stable condition” today and is expected to be taken off the Island by air ambulance for further treatment.

According to a police spokesman, the 45-year-old Pennsylvania resident was involved in a single-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon on North Shore Road, near Jennings Lane in Smith’s.

“Details are still unclear, however it appears that the visitor lost control of his rental cycle and collided with a wall,” the spokesman said. “He was taken to KEMH were he is being treated for serious head injuries.”

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the accident to contact 295-0011.
