A new children’s choir delighted churchgoers during a service at St Peter’s Church in St George yesterday.

According to Reverend David Raths, Their Majesties Choristers “were absolutely fantastic” during a service led by Anglican Bishop Nick Dill and attended by about 160 people.

“They sang very, very well — everyone was absolutely thrilled,” Rev Raths said, adding that the children who performed “had a good time” and “sang their hearts out”.

“They just rose to the challenge,” he said of the children, who were between the ages of about seven and 12. “They responded like little pros and their parents have every right to be proud of them.

“Everyone said what a wonderful service it was.”

Rev Raths said that the children were taught by Martin Pastor, the music teacher at Clearwater Middle School, who turned the experience into a game over the course of six weeks.

“He is just superb with them,” Rev Raths added.

“The parents are just thrilled to have this opportunity to get training for their children.”

Rev Raths said Their Majesties Choristers are expected to perform once a month at St Peter’s Church once the children return from their summer break.

He hopes there will be many other opportunities for them to showcase their talents in the local community.
