A centuries-old Portuguese tradition will mark its 20th year in Bermuda this weekend: the Festival of the Holy Spirit will be celebrated today and tomorrow at King’s Square in St George.
Music and food feature highly in the free family event, which is especially popular in the Azores and has flourished on the Island.
Entertainment will come courtesy of the Travellers, Caroline Araujo and Friends, the Portuguese Folklore Dancers, Filipino Dancers, Vasco Da Gama Dancers, Sara Pacheco, Michelle Madeira, Stephanie Tavares and Milu Pacheco.
Today’s festivities run from 7pm until 11pm, while tomorrow’s are from 5pm until 11pm.
Baked goods will be for sale, harking back to the custom created by Queen Isabela of Portugal to help the poor.
