All aboard the Christmas Boat Parade

Entry is still open for this year’s Christmas Boat Parade, organisers have announced.

Fifty boats have already registered for the spectator event, which sees inventively-decorated vessels lighting up Hamilton Harbour.

Scheduled to take place from 6.30pm on Saturday, December 12, this year’s theme is the America’s Cup.

“So far we’ve got a good parade, but we’re appealing to boat owners to help us make it a great one,” said spokesman Steve Thomson.

The harbour will be shut down to both commercial and private boat traffic after 5.30pm to ensure a clear and safe parade route.

“We must put safety first,” added Mr Thomson. “What we are saying to boat owners is, the best place to experience the parade on the water is in the parade.”
