Brush fire in Hamilton

First Prev 1 2 3 Next Last

A large brush fire broke out shortly before 4pm today just west of Woodland’s Road in Pembroke.

Fire crews responded swiftly with two trucks at the scene dousing flames behind a warehouse off Astwood Close.

Area residents were alerted by popping sounds, followed by a plume of smoke.

The fire broke out in a patch of tall cane around an electrical utility pole, and residents said that while they still had power, lights in the house were “going haywire”.

The fire brought excitement for nearby Saltus students, but appeared to be confined to a waste area of thick underbrush.
