Taser rooftop man threatens police with dogs

An arrest lookout has been issued for a Paget man who threatened police with his dogs, avoided a Tasering then embarked on a late-night rooftop standoff.

Officers were called to the Tribe Road No 5 residence at 9.30pm on Monday, where they spoke with the 29-year-old man who appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants.

During the exchange, the man threatened that his dogs would attack the officers, leading them to bring in an animal warden to secure the pets.

After police tried and failed to restrain the man with a Taser, he retreated to his roof and stayed there until 2am, at which point officers stood down.

No injuries were reported and the arrest lookout was issued for the man, who is also due in court for several related offences.
