Two injured in waterside melee

A man was stabbed and a woman injured by a projectile in a waterside melee at Mangrove Bay this evening.

The incident, which took place at 5.20pm, a few hours after the annual Non-Mariners Race, involved a group of men throwing bottles and other objects at each other, according to police.

Bermuda Police Service spokesman Dwayne Caines said an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the shoulder and taken via a marine vessel to Watford Bridge, where he was later transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. An 18-year-old woman was hit in the head with a projectile and was also taken to hospital.

Both of the victims sustained injuries that were thought not to be life-threatening.

A man was arrested in connection with the incident. Witnesses should contact Sergeant Clifford Roberts Jr on 295-0011.
