Fire crews tackle bedroom blaze

Firefighters tackled a bedroom blaze in Hamilton Parish this afternoon.

The property in Abbott's Cliff Road sustained major smoke damage throughout as a result of the fire which broke out at around 2.13pm.

“We responded to a report of a structural fire at 1 Abbott's Cliff Close,” Sergeant Russann Francis said.

“On our arrival it was discovered that there was heavy smoke issuing from the upper level of a two-storey residence.

“We responded with three vehicles and nine personnel and discovered a small fire in a bedroom that was quickly extinguished with a dry chemical powder extinguisher.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
