Police investigate attempted armed robbery

Two men burst into a home wielding a firearm and demanding cash yesterday evening, but fled the scene empty-handed on a maroon motorbike.

The home invasion took place at 5.15pm on Orchard Grove in Pembroke and involved two men wearing dark helmets and clothing. One suspect is described as 5ft 6 ins, while the other was 5ft 10 ins.

Detective are investigating the possibility that the aggravated burglary is linked to a second incident later in the evening when two men on a “reddish” bike threatened a motorcyclist with a firearm.

The second incident took place at 11.30pm on Palmetto Road in Devonshire near the junction with Tribe Road 2. The victim managed to escape the two men on a bike, and was not injured.

The victims in the armed raid on Orchard Grove have so far declined to assist police.
