Wacky Walk set for Friday

Dig out your most bizarre clothes and make your way to City Hall this Friday evening for the annual Wacky Walk and Scavenger Hunt.

Hosted by Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Bermuda, the event, starting at 6pm, is aimed at raising funds for the charity.

“BBBS invites everyone to dress up in something wacky — a halloween costume, mismatched clothing or something unusual — and join their Bigs and Littles for this fun fundraising event,” said Patrina O’Connor-Paynter, managing director of BBBS.

“This year we have added a Scavenger Hunt full of fun facts about the City of Hamilton. To participate in the Scavenger Hunt they will need a camera phone, pen or pencil, route map with clues (provided by us), and their wacky costume.

“We will be using the social media hashtags #BBBSWackyWalk and #PTtechHasIt on the night of the event and encourage people to take pictures and post.”

Teams for the Scavenger Hunt will be a minimum of 2 people with a maximum of 4 and all teams with children under the age of 12 must include at least one adult. Participation in the Scavenger Hunt is not mandatory, therefore participants can choose to do the walk only.

The cost to take part is $5 for children (students) and $10 for adults. Pledge sheets are available at the BBBS office located at 12 Wesley Street in Hamilton. Students can also receive Community Service Hours for their participation.

Prizes will be awarded for the wackiest dressed male and female and the Scavenger Hunt winners. All prizes have been provided by P-Tech, Brown & Co and Speciality Cinema & Grill.

“We encourage everyone to come out, bring your family, co-workers and friends and prepare to have a great time,” added Mrs O’Connor-Paynter
