Party in Court Street this weekend

Court Street will come alive with 14 hours of entertainment this weekend.

Activities run from 1pm on Saturday to 3am on Sunday, beginning with a Christmas Community Outreach and Street Festival from 1pm to 5pm in the Dr E.F. Gordon Square.

According to a press release, the Uptown Cultural Committee has brought together several organisations for the event as part of the Road to New Year’s Eve, aiming to bring “much needed energy, commerce and positive experiences into an area that we all agree needs upliftment and support”.

Those involved include the Emperial Group, Gina Spence Productions, Spanish Town Entertainment, Startime, Island Events Group, Chill Entertainment, Dread and Baha Animal Productions, His and Hers Entertainment and Global Art TV.

The street festival, organised by Gina Spence Productions, will feature Christmas giveaways of turkeys, hams and Christmas trees, gift cards for seniors to purchase medication, and healthy food supplies for children and families in need.

There will be a free kiddie area, Gombeys and performances by RoyLSilva, Chewstick, Kings Kids, Anointed Steps Dance Ministry School, Chrysda Smith, Toni Robinson, Transformed Life Challenge Dancers, Bermuda Karate Institute, Shine Hayward, Club 2000, For God’s Purpose and many more.

A children’s dance competition will follow at 6pm, hosted by the Animal featuring Nae Nae and Little Quan.

Chill Entertainment will host round one of the karaoke competition at 7pm, which will see professionals clashing with amateurs on stage for $10,000 in prizes.

From 9pm, DJ Chill will play Old School as a warm-up to Old School Extreme, organised by Island Events Group, featuring China and Bussy, Malcolm Lethal Weapon Smith and DJ Cavon at Swinging Doors and Place’s Place from 10pm to 3am.

Events are sponsored by Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, the Ministry of Public Works, Ascendant Group, People’s Pharmacy, BGA, The Phoenix Stores, Mediaville, Bank of Bermuda Foundation, MarketPlace, Census 2016, City of Hamilton, Chamber of Commerce and Bermuda Pest Control.

Uptown Saturday Nights will also have an event on Saturday, December 17, as well as the Uptown New Year’s Eve Celebration on Saturday, December 31.
