A female police officer has been suspended following allegations that she took part in the protest outside the House of Assembly earlier this month.

It has been alleged that the woman covered her police uniform and joined the protesters, many of whom prevented MPs from entering the House. As the protest escalated, riot police used pepper spray to subdue the crowd. A police spokeman said: “An allegation has been made against a serving female police officer that she breached the standards of professional behaviour when she left her assigned duties without permission, covered her police uniform and joined the protest at the House of Assembly on Friday, December 2. A gross misconduct investigation is in progress and the officer has been suspended from duty.”
