Tyshon gives gifts to those in need

Giving spirit: Tyshon Nosakhere Jr and his family are sending presents home to Bermuda

Big-hearted Tyshon Nosakhere, 10, is spending Christmas this year in a new home abroad — but his biggest wish was to make a difference for children back in Bermuda.

“We were talking about children in need and Tyshon wanted to help someone,” mother-of-two Nafeesah Nosakhere told The Royal Gazette from Boca Raton, Florida.

“He asked me if we could get gifts for some children back home. I had no problem whatsoever. I posted on Facebook for someone in need or if anyone knew a family in need.”

A friend tracked down a young single mother of three boys aged 2, 10 and 15, who had recently lost her apartment.

“She’s a very kind young lady who has been struggling to make ends meet,” Ms Nosakhere said.

Tyshon was inspired after bringing smiles to the faces of the elderly at a nursing home during a visit from his old school, Saltus.

“Things have been tight with me, but at the end of the day he never had to suffer and he really wanted to give back,” Ms Nosakhere said. “My son is a very kind-hearted child.”

Christmas comes a little late: Tyshon was making up cards for the wrapped presents to come back to Bermuda with his grandmother and surrogate Santa, Shirley Nosakhere.

The Royal Gazette knows what’s inside — but will keep the secret safe.
