Firefighters tackled two brush fires this afternoon in Warwick.

Crews were called to Warwick Lane and the entrance to WindReach at about 2.45pm.

“The Fire Service responded with three vehicles and 11 personnel,” said staff officer Delton White. “On our arrival at Warwick Lane we found two areas of brush on fire, one approximately 50ft by 20ft and the other approximately 20ft by 20ft, both in proximity to the residence of the address.

“Fire personnel quickly proceeded to begin extinguishing the fire to prevent damage to the house and a nearby vehicle.”

Staff officer White said that the WindReach blaze had been partiality put out by WindReach staff by the time crews arrived on the scene.

He added: “On arrival of the second vehicle at the Windreach location, we found an area of brush on fire approximately 20ft by 20ft which had been partially extinguished by the Windreach personnel using their onsite fire extinguishers.

“Fire Service personnel then extinguished the remaining fire before it could spread any farther.”

Firefighters remained on the scenes after the two brush fires were brought under control to extinguish any hotspots that could potentially reignite.

There were no injuries as a result of the fires and they are under investigation.
