House fire in Sandys

No injuries have been reported in connection with a house fire in Sandys this morning.

Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to a report of a single-storey dwelling fire on Pleasantville Lane shortly before 11am.

Two engines and eight firefighters attended.

On scene, firefighters “observed smoke and flames visibly emitting from the premises”, Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Delton White said.

“Firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus and equipped with a one-and-one-half-inch hose line made entry into the premises to extinguish the fire.”

A search of the property was conducted after the fire was brought under control, he said.

No injuries were immediately reported. The house sustained major smoke and heat damage, Mr White said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
