The US Consulate is set to host a screening of Academy Award nominated film Hidden Figures next week at the National Library.

And Commander Jim Jackson, a retired US Naval Officer, will be donating four copies of the Young Reader’s edition of the true story to the library’s collection. The film, starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae, tells the story of three African-American women who played a major but unacknowledged role in Nasa’s launch of astronaut John Glenn in 1962.

The donation is scheduled to take place at 5.30pm on June 15, with the film screening starting at 6pm. Admission is free, but due to limited seating, places are on a first-come, first-serve basis.
