Woman trapped after three-vehicle crash

Police confirmed Thursday’s crash in Southampton, which caused early evening traffic congestion, involved a car, a taxi and a motorcycle, but there no serious injuries

The accident happened around 5.15pm on Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with South Road.

“The car ended up on its side with the driver, believed to be a 54-year-old Sandys parish woman, temporarily trapped in the vehicle,” said a police spokesman.

“She was then taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of her injuries and later discharged.

“Traffic in the area was delayed for approximately two hours.”

Inquiries continue and any witnesses should contact the main police telephone number 295-0011.

Meanwhile, around the same time a pedal cyclist was injured on King Street, near the Dundonald Street junction.

“It appears that a 62-year-old male cyclist fell to the ground while attempting to make a turn,” added the spokesman.

He was taken to hospital but later discharged.
