Motorists warned to expect traffic delays

Police are reminding motorists to expect delays as the Bermuda Heroes Weekend festivities continue in St David’s.

With thousands making their way to the East End, traffic congestion is being reported as far back as Hamilton Parish.

A spokesman said: “Motorists, particularly those living and/or travelling in the East End this afternoon, should anticipate delays due to the high volumes of traffic expected.

“Traffic diversions will be in place as a result of road closures and large numbers of people are anticipated to be in attendance.”

He reiterated that there will be limited access via Number 2 Gate, where the Parade of Bands begins before making its way along the entire length of Southside Road, turning right onto Cooper’s Island Road and then onto Clearwater Beach, from 2pm to 10pm.

“It is anticipated that the parade will have approximately 2,500 participants with a large number of spectators lining the parade route. Access to Cooper’s Island Road is via payment due to the BHW event.”
