Police investigating assault in Warwick

Police are investigating reports of an assault that took place on Friday night in Warwick.

A police spokesman said police responded to a report of an incident on Morgan Road at around 11.30pm, but when they arrived on the scene “no incident was located”.

Hours later, at around 2.30am on Saturday, police attended King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where a teenager was receiving treatment for injuries that are not life threatening.

“Initial information suggests that earlier the young man was sitting on a wall along Morgan Road with other teens when he was assaulted by an unknown male,” the spokesman said.

“Inquiries continue and any witnesses or persons that saw any suspicious activity or vehicles in the Morgan Road, Warwick area around 11.30pm Friday are urged to contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”
