Firefighters put out Devonshire blaze

No injuries have been reported in connection with a fire in Devonshire this afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the blaze on Turk’s Head Lane, off South Road, shortly after 2pm.

Smoke and flames were seen by people who reported the incident.

Russann Francis, acting lieutenant with the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service, said that flames consumed two sheds and an area of trees.

“We responded to the incident with three vehicles and 10 personnel,” Ms Francis said.

“Four firefighters dressed in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using dual attack lines and approximately 3,000 gallons of water.”

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

“An investigation into the fire will commence momentarily as personnel are continuing to wet down various hotspots in the area,” Ms Francis said.
