Two men suffer serious injuries in Sunday crash

A 22-year old man was left with serious leg injuries, while a 20-year-old man sustained a serious injury to his foot, in a crash in the early hours of Sunday.

The 20-year-old man was driving a motorcycle, which a police spokesman said apparently collided with an oncoming car shortly after 5am.

The injured men were said to have undergone surgery, and were resting on a surgical ward.

The crash occurred on South Road in Paget near the junction with Inglewood Lane. A 19-year-old woman travelling in the car was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for injuries to her leg and abrasions to her body. She was later released.

The male driver was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst impaired but passed the impairment test. He was detained as a result of outstanding warrants.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision, or who would have been in the area around the time of the collision, is urged to contact police on 295-0011.
