Fire safety week launches

Minister of National Security Wayne Caines today attended the launch of the Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service’s annual Fire Safety Awareness Week.

Mr Caines said he was pleased to support the BF&RS’s awareness efforts by participating in a fire safety demonstration, as well as reading the annual Proclamation to school students and attendees.

This year’s activities take place from October 9 to 13, under the theme Every Second Counts, Plan Two Ways Out.

The BF&RS will be hold open houses at the Hamilton, Port Royal and Clearwater Fire Stations to share the importance of safety.

The service will also share its fire safety message in the island’s schools.

The show and open houses at the stations take place from 9.45am to 2.30pm tomorrow until Thursday.

There will also be fire extinguisher training at Hamilton Station on Thursday from 7pm.
