Bermuda hit a purple patch in a successful fun run designed to raise funds for an incurable autoimmune disease.

The event was aimed at raising cash to fight lupus — using the theme colour for lupus awareness.

Bermuda Lupus Association member Paula Williams said the atmosphere was “a mixture of excitement and serenity — men, women, children and even dogs took part”.

Insurer and reinsurer MS Amlin, the main sponsor for Saturday’s event, entered a team wearing purple tutus.

First place in the youth division went to Zylah Bean, with Blayz Borgesson in second and Zanja Fox in third.

The podium spots in the adult race went to Kanaz Tuzo in first place, Zachery Ziegler in second place and Sean Kelly in third spot.

In addition to MS Amlin, sponsors included Barritts, Swan’s Running Club, Butterfield & Vallis, Miles Supermarket, Lindo’s Supermarket, People’s Pharmacy, Advanced Chiropractic Wellness Centre, TravelEdge, Rubis Warwick service station, Rubis Boaz Island Marine service station and Cut2Chases Barbershop.
