Charity gift show Force is with Securis

Costume drama: Securis takes Star Wars fandom to the next level(Photograph supplied)

Fans of Star Wars have raised nearly $30,000 for the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre thanks to events held by an insurance-linked securities firm.

Securis, which has made a Christmas tradition of showings of the latest Star Wars movies, went the extra mile for The Last Jedi with costumes for attendees to bid on. Securis started out with three outfits and threw in a fourth for the last day of bidding.

Last year’s fundraiser brought in $7,375 and this year’s target was set at a minimum of $10,000 — but the firm had raised $26,670 by December 15.

The “delighted” company thanked staff and supporters for a “resounding success”.
