Hats off for hospice high tea
Friends of Hospice is to host its annual Hearts, Hats and High Tea event this month.
There will be prizes for the “most marvellous, natural and unique” hats, as well as for the best men's hat.
Nicky Gurret, one of the organisers, said: “As the charity arm of Agape House, the island's only inpatient facility for the terminally ill, all proceeds from the tea will directly benefit the hospice and the patients and their families who they serve.”
The event at the Fairmont Southampton's Windows on the Sound on February 24 will also include sandwiches and petits fours, and live entertainment with Tony Bari and Gita Blakeney-Saltus.
The charity said: “This year will see the introduction of a new form of entertainment not to be missed.”
AS Coopers has offered a 20 per cent discount on regular priced hats for anyone attending the tea and guests can show their ticket to receive the discount.
Tickets cost $75 per person and must be bought by 3pm on February 21.
