Sloop Foundation pirate fundraiser postponed
A pirate-themed fundraiser to support the Bermuda Sloop Foundation has been postponed.
The foundation said that a combination of “weather uncertainty” and other logistics were behind the date change.
The event, originally set for this Sunday, will now be held on March 18 at Albuoy's Point.
Branwen Smith-King, executive director of the Bermuda Sloop Foundation, said the last-minute postponement and location change were “very disappointing”.
Ms Smith-King added: “We hope spectators will come out on March 18 to watch this annual family event.
“Our hard-working hostages will continue to entreat their friends, family members, and colleagues to contribute to saving them from walking the plank.”
Fifty-three “hostages” will take part in this year's event. Information on all the participants can be found at www.ptix.bm/pirates.
All funds raised through the event, the foundation's biggest of the year, are earmarked for the foundation's middle school student voyages.
Next Sunday's event, which includes fun and family-friendly entertainment, begins at 2pm.
